Emailing Google Contact Groups

There are quite a few threads posted in the Gmail Help Community seeking guidance on ways to email Google Contacts groups or as Google calls them, Contact Labels. So, in this blog, we take a look at the various ways we can do that, namely: Via the Google Contacts web UI. Via the Google Contacts Android app. Via the Gmail Compose autocomplete UI. Via the Gmail Compose Contact picker option. Section 1: Via the Google Contacts web UI. The Google Contacts web UI refers to the https://contacts.google.com/ page for that specific Google account.  In there:  Select the Contact group or label you wish to email from the left panel (shown as 1) Select a single contact from the list by clicking on the check box to its left. Check on the down arrow next to the Select box above (shown as 2), and select All. This should select all Contacts. Click on the Send email (envelope, shown as 3) icon. This will bring up the Gmail Compose window with all the contacts entered as To recipients. Put in

The new way to add or edit contacts from Gmail

Gmail has recently added Contacts in the right-side add-on panel and in the process, brought about some changes in ways Contacts now gets saved from Gmail.  For starters, the " Add to Contacts " options in the hovercard is now gone and replaced with a " More info " link.  So, of late, many users are seen posting in the Gmail Help Community and asking about how they can add contacts directly from Gmail or edit contact details from Gmail.  To add a contact directly from Gmail, click open the conversation and then, click on the Contacts add-on from the right-side panel (shown as 1). It will default to showing contacts " In this thread ", then click on the contact you wish to add to contacts (shown as 2). The next screen shows the " Add to contacts " icon at the top-right corner. Click on it. After a few moments, the confirmation would show up at the bottom of the screen. Thereafter, to view, edit or delete the contact, click on the " Open in ne

Make a Google Contacts Group (Label) directly from Gmail

Gmail is known to offer several shortcuts with regards to Google Contacts. One such handy shortcut is the ability to create a new Google Group (Labels) directly from Gmail without requiring to visit the Google Contacts page at https://contacts.google.com/. What is even more helpful is that the feature allows you to do this in two different ways - before and after inserting contacts in the Gmail Compose window Recipients' section. Before inserting contacts in the Gmail Compose window Recipients' section. Click on the To:/Cc:/Bcc: link in Gmail It will pop open the Contact selector window. "My Contacts" will show up as the default contact group indicated by the red rectangle, I have manually changed it to show a test contact group. Now you need to select some or all contacts as required by checking the boxes next to their name or the Select All box above. Once done, click on the Manage labels button above, as highlighted. This will show a list of all available Google Co

Adding multiple contacts in Google Contacts at once

When the old Google Contacts UI finally made way for the new Google Contacts preview version, it took with itself one of the most used feature: the ability to add multiple contacts at once under either My Contacts or any specific contact groups, now called Labels. In the intervening months, many hundreds of people have posted in the Gmail help community and also on Twitter about bringing back this feature, and, now (in February 2020), we finally see that feature being released and made available for the Gsuite and personal Gmail accounts. The sequence of steps are as follows: Visit the Google Contacts page at https://contacts.google.com/ Click on the "Create contact" button. It will expand to show two options, (a) Create a contact and (b) Create multiple contacts Click on the "Create multiple contacts" button. A pop-up window will appear with the relevant fields If you want to add the new contacts under a label, you need to click on the grey

Using Google Contact Labels (Groups) in the Gmail Android app

One of the most persistent feature requests from the Gmail mobile app users is to be allowed the benefit of using the contact labels (previously called Groups) set up in the Google contacts manager to send out emails.  That's because the contact labels created in the Google Contacts manager at https://contacts.google.com/ can't be used in other places except for the Gmail standard web UI accessible via https://mail.google.com/ . It also meant that those contact labels or groups stayed out of bounds for users who would use the Gmail Android or iOS app.  The Google Contacts Android app seems to have been made things just a bit better for the Gmail Android mobile app users. To be able to use the Google Contact labels in the Gmail Android app, download and install the Google Contacts app from the Play Store. Once installed, it will display the Contacts for the Google address as well as the Contact labels.  To be able to see the Contact labels, tap on the 3
