Using Google Contact Labels (Groups) in the Gmail Android app

One of the most persistent feature requests from the Gmail mobile app users is to be allowed the benefit of using the contact labels (previously called Groups) set up in the Google contacts manager to send out emails.  That's because the contact labels created in the Google Contacts manager at https://contacts.google.com/ can't be used in other places except for the Gmail standard web UI accessible via https://mail.google.com/ . It also meant that those contact labels or groups stayed out of bounds for users who would use the Gmail Android or iOS app.  The Google Contacts Android app seems to have been made things just a bit better for the Gmail Android mobile app users. To be able to use the Google Contact labels in the Gmail Android app, download and install the Google Contacts app from the Play Store. Once installed, it will display the Contacts for the Google address as well as the Contact labels.  To be able to see the Contact labels, tap on the 3

Selecting Contacts in large batches

I happened to chance upon this while finding an answer to a question posed in the community. In the Google Contacts page - https://contacts.google.com/ , individual contacts can be selected by clicking on the circular profile icon to the left of the Contact's name The other option is to use the select All contacts at once by using the steps shown below. But, what if we need to select a batch of contacts numbering about 50, or 100, or 200? Here are the three steps: Select the first of those contacts by clicking on the circular profile image. It is just the same as when you select a single contact. Now scroll down to the last contact. Finally, select the last contact by clicking on the circular profile image while holding down the Shift key. Doing a Shift+click will select all the contact entries in between the tw

Finding out the size of a Gmail Draft

This blog is inspired by a question from the Gmail Help Community where the user had posted asking how to estimate the size of a Gmail Draft. Daily users of Gmail would know that Gmail doesn't display either the size of individual messages or drafts and it would be a nice thing if they did so that the users would know how close they are to the 25 MB message size limit. But until that day arrives, how should we approach handling this question? Gmail search always had  size , larger , and smaller operators and we are going to use them. We might not get the exact size, but we can get a fairly close approximate value. Let's see how! We have created a set of three drafts. Two fairly similar and one slightly smaller. The Gmail search bar is located above the messages. So, we click on the downward arrow that's to the right of the bar and focus on the few fields that are towards the bottom of the search definition screen, namely Size and Search.
